The habits and activities of every individual make a big difference in the quality and quantity of this precious resource. Learn more about legacy and emerging contaminants that threaten the safety of our water supply. It’s not something we want think about…all the stuff that goes down our drains. But it is increasingly clear that all that stuff is having an impact on the quality of our drinking water. Long Island gets it water from a sole source aquifer deep below the surface, but human activity, industry and our choice of cleaning and personal care products are being detected in worrisome amounts in our water.
